Stunning views all around
Smith Rock State Park

The sunsets are stunning and the location is easy to get to. The state park is located in central Oregon's High Desert near the communities of Redmond and Terrebonne.

Wedding groups of no more than 50 people can reserve the North Point Amphitheater space.

To get married in Smith Rock State Park, you will need to obtain a special use permit from the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department if your guest count is over 20.

Start by contacting the park and filling out the special use permit fee along with the non-refundable processing fee.

Make sure to obtain your wedding license through the county clerk. We are a team of two photographers and can sign as witnesses.

You and your guests will need the day use fee permit that is $10 per vehicle, or the Northwest Yearly Pass that can be obtained for $30.

The Amphitheatre area is perfect for an intimate elopement and perfect for an evening ceremony before sunset.

We recommend setting your ceremony time before the golden hour so that you can take advantage of the best lighting at the park.

A popular option is to have a separate reception location in Redmond or Bend. We can help you book a reservation for this as well.

In the summer the temperatures can reach up into the 100's, so be sure to plan accordingly, remember it is the dessert after all!
Skyliner Lodge

Located 10 miles from downtown Bend, the lodge is surrounded by pine and juniper trees overlooking the Deschutes River.

Skyliner is rustic and woodsy. Perfect for outdoor lovers.

After the date(s) is/are confirmed, complete the Skyliner Lodge Application and User Agreement (revised 09/11/2023) and email it to the Skyliner Lodge Reservation Coordinator (skyliner.coordinator@hdesd.org).

The Skyliner Lodge Reservation Coordinator will review your application and email you confirmation/approval of the reservation with a link to pay the $100.00 deposit online.

Sparks Lake
-
A personal favorite, Sparks Lake recreation area is approximately 370 acres of lake wetland surrounded by another 360 acres of meadow, marsh, or stream wetlands. The spectacular landscape is surrounded by South Sister, Broken Top, and Mt. Bachelor. In the spring the yellow-flowers of Indian pond lily start to pop up around the meadow, creating a dreamlike setting.

Sparks Lake is located about 25 miles west of Bend off the Cascade Lakes Highway, on the northwest edge of Mount Bachelor, and is the first of the high lakes you see from the Cascade Lakes Highway west of Bend.

The views of South Sister, Mount Bachelor, and Broken Top are breathtaking. Mosquitoes and biting flies are abundant in early summer, so bring repellant.

The road from the entrance is 1.7 miles to the Ray Atkeson Trailhead.

The large meadow/beach area in front of the lake make for an unforgettable elopement. Many couples choose to reserve the Rambler Room at Mcmenamin's Old St. Francis or one of the amazing restaurants in Bend.
South Sister and Broken Top

South Sister is the third tallest mountain in Oregon and the tallest of the famous three-sister chain. Hike to Moraine lake, about 3 miles up the trail, or to the summit for spectacular panoramic views of the Cascades (11.6 miles out and back).

This trail is dog friendly, but make sure to Bring a leash.

Broken Top sits at 7100 feet above sea level and can be accessed in the summer months via the Broken Top Crater Trailhead road (Forest Road 370 to Forest Road 380, past Todd Lake) is very rugged, and high clearance 4-wheel drive vehicles are HIGHLY recommended.

Day-use permits will be released in two rolling windows: 10 days and then 2 days before the trip date.

Example: for the first day of permit season, June 15, the first patch of permits will be released on June 5 at 7:00 am PDT. The remaining permits will be released June 13 at 7:00 am PDT.

You will need the recreation parking fee permit that is $5 per vehicle/day.

We recommend starting this hike in the early afternoon for the best lighting for photos. The hike itself is about an hour.
Mt. Bachelor & Pine Martin Lodge

After a short but scenic chairlift ascent you'll arrive at the Pine Marten Lodge at 7,800 feet, where a sunset ceremony at Pine Marten Lodge is one you will cherish for a lifetime!

Crater Lake National Park

The deepest lake in the United States and the most pristine in the world, Crater lake National Park is a popular destination for travelers from all over the globe.

The lodge is open mid-May to early October with 71 rooms. Stay warm indoors near the large native stone fireplace, or sit in a rocking chair along the outdoor patio and watch the sun rise across Crater Lake. The dining room is offers three meals a day.

The permit fees total $100. $50for the application, and $50 for the permit once approved. On the permit, you need to list first choices of locations and dates and allow 8 weeks for processing.

Entrance to the park is $30 per vehicle or you will need the National State Park Pass. You are encouraged to pay the entrance fee or purchase an NPS pass before arriving to save time, but you may also purchase passes at any entrance station upon arrival. Find out more about entrance passes below.

Proxy falls

The 1.6-mile loop trail near Blue River, Oregon is generally considered a moderately challenging route and takes an average of 38 min to complete.
-
The trailhead is located in-between Eugene and Sisters on the old Mackenzie Hwy. The drive from Sisters, Oregon is about an hour and twenty minutes.
-
You will need to pay the day use fee of $5 for parking or have an annual northwest recreation pass.
-
Hwy 242 is open seasonally and typically opens June through October. The winding road will take you through millions of years old lava flows and past the Dee Write Observatory and Pacific Crest Trail.
